Dancing With the Stars judge Julianne Hough is engaged to Brooks Laich. The couple shared their exciting news via Instagram and it’s clear that they are thrilled. What’s the scoop?
Julianne Hough’s engagement announcement came Tuesday morning as she shared a photo on social media and wrote, “We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiance #love”

Brooks shared the same photo and note on his Instagram just a couple of minutes after Julianne posted. Hough’s post garnered more than 75,000 “likes” in about an hour, with more than 2,000 comments congratulating them.
According to E! Online , Julianne’s engagement took place in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where her grandparents live. Julianne and her brother, fellow DWTS star Derek Hough , recently finished up their summer Move Live on Tour show. It seems that both headed out to Idaho for some relaxation before things kick into gear for the fall season of Dancing With the Stars .
Both Julianne and Derek have been sharing a number of photos on Instagram of their time with family in Coeur d’Alene, and it seems that Brooks figured this was the perfect setting to pop the question. So far Julianne and Brooks have not shared any additional details about the engagement, but fans will surely learn more soon.
The DWTS judge, 27, and Washington Capitals hockey player, 32, were set up by mutual friend Teddy Sears in December 2013. This will be the first marriage for both Julianne and Brooks. Julianne has spoken before about how she knew that Brooks was the one, despite having had some high-profile relationships in the past.
Hough previously dated American Idol host and radio personality Ryan Seacrest for three years. She also dated country singer Chuck Wicks for some time, and the two competed together on Season 8 of Dancing With the Stars as they were dating. Julianne was previously engaged to dancer and actor Zach Wilson as well.
Season 21 of Dancing With the Stars begins in just a few weeks and fans are anxiously waiting for the cast announcement. Some DWTS rumors are swirling and more scoop should be coming out in the next couple of weeks. Julianne will be behind the judge’s table once again, and it is believed that her brother Derek likely will be back as a pro.
