Nicole Wallace Discovered She Was Fired From ‘The View’ Through The Press

Nicole Wallace discovered that ABC News had fired her just like everyone else in the public found out. And that was through the press.

ABC hired Nicole as a co-host for its talk show The View in September of 2014. ABC picked Wallace while looking for a measured and intelligent Republican for their Hot Topics table.

Nicole sat at the Hot Topics table opposite Rosie Perez, Rosie O’Donnell, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Wallace admitted that her producers were apparently displeased with the fact that she wasn’t bickering passionately enough with her co-hosts during the debate.

Nicole, however, never received any sort of feedback about her performance.

She eventually learned from a Variety story that ABC was going to fire her from the show. Wallace says that she does not feel that anybody wronged her. However, Nicole admits that it would have been better if she found things out in a better way.

Wallace said that she should have perhaps seen it coming since she seemed to go unnoticed after the show. But then again, she admits that it wasn’t in an obviously unpleasant way.

She didn’t receive any call from ABC about her getting fired. However, after the Variety story got published, she received a phone call from the network. They offered her a contributor’s role along with an offer to do the debates and conventions.

Nicole didn’t accept the offer since she wasn’t looking for a part-time gig. The offer wouldn’t have allowed her enough time on-screen to make her presence felt, and ABC wasn’t interested in negotiating.

Rumors of feuds between co-host Rosie O’Donnell and Wallace have also surfaced. The chemistry between the two was allegedly combustible, and Wallace wonders if that kind of “combustion” was what the channel is seeking.

Wallace said, “She was really intense, and that intensity could be really uncomfortable.”

Wallace says that she does not think that she would be watching a lot of The View anytime in the near future. She said that she wishes the network nothing but great success.

At the same time, she feels that it is like having a “break-up.”

She said, “If you’re dating the quarterback and then you go out with the hockey player, you just go to the hockey games. I don’t think I’ll still go the football games.”

Nicole Wallace also feels that she was most likely getting compared with former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck and O’Donnell would often get into heated arguments at the time when Hasselbeck was co-hosting the debate.
