Watch Manchester United Vs. Tottenham Hotspur Live Online: Barclays Premier League Is Back, Streaming

The Barclays Premier League is back, and fans of the world’s most popular and, many believe, toughest football league can watch live online when Tottenham Hotspur invades Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the opening match of the first day of the 2015-2016 English season — a match that features a Manchester United side with a whole new look.

For the past two seasons, Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea has been the rock that anchors the Manchester United defense, as the 24-year-old has quickly and firmly established himself as one of the world’s top goalies.

But De Gea will not be in goal Saturday afternoon when last season’s fifth-place finishers, Tottenham, come to Manchester. Throughout the summer, the keeper has been at the center of an on-again, off-again transfer bid by Spanish giant Real Madrid, who are believed to be readying an offer that would be the highest-ever transfer fee for a goalie, to pry De Gea away from the 20-time English top-flight champions.

United Manager Louis Van Gaal said he believes that De Gea is too distracted by the Real Madrid transfer drama to play effectively in goal on Saturday.

“He shall not play. I think a human being is more than just a player,” said Van Gaal on Friday. “He cannot manage that. You have to wait and see who is starting.”

With new signing Sergio Romero also believed to be not yet ready to play, the Barclays Premier League opener could see 22-year-old Sam Johnstone make his debut for the first team, after signing with the legendary club as a 16-year-old in 2009.

Tottenham, on the other hand, appears certain to start French international Hugo Lloris, one of the world’s elite netminders.

The match pits last season’s fourth-place finishers in United against the fifth-place club, Spurs. Last season, United won the fixture at home 3-0, but the clubs played to a scoreless draw at White Hart Lane in London.
