‘Scream’: MTV Renews Series For Season 2, Plus Episode 6 Sneak Peek

Who is the killer on MTV’s Scream? Well, that still has not been revealed – though the clues are continuing to add up and point to various characters – but there is good news for fans, as the network has announced that it will be back for more.

According to MTV.com, Scream has been renewed for a second season. Entertainment Weekly added that next season will follow the same characters – so don’t expect to see any of the actors playing characters who die to suddenly reappear in different roles. Whoever survives this season is fair game to return in Season 2. MTV’s Mina Lefevre has said in a statement that the network is looking forward to more from the horror series.

“It has been a wonderful experience working with Bob Weinstein and his team, who are such connoisseurs of this genre and we are thrilled by how our viewers have responded to the reinvention of Scream. We look forward to another season filled with suspense, horror and more twists and turns.”

However, before there can be a Scream Season 2, there are still a lot of questions that will hopefully be answered before Season 1 is over, and as stated above, the most important question is, who is the killer? In the latest episode, the fifth of the season, “Exposed,” following the (accidental) release of the video of Emma and Will, Brooke revealed that Nina bet Will that he couldn’t sleep with Emma, which is why he went up to her in the first place. By the end of the episode, she was spending some quality time in the woods with Kieran and a gun for target practice.

Meanwhile, a memorial was put together for the dead teenagers, and it was there that Piper suggested to Emma that there’s more to the Audrey and Rachel story than she knows. According to Piper, Rachel’s parents told her that Audrey intimidated Rachel and could get her to do things she wouldn’t normally do. But should Emma believe Piper, who also dropped a bit of information about herself – that her father was killed and his killer was never found – or does she have an ulterior motive for telling Emma that?

Elsewhere, Mayor Maddox brought the blackmail money to a drop point, where Jake and Will waited wearing masks, and the Mayor ended up with a broken nose after telling Jake he didn’t have all of it. While he may have been keeping an eye on things in his house thanks to all those cameras, he didn’t have one to see Jake showing Brooke a video of her father with what appeared to be a dead body the day after her mother supposedly was checked into rehab.

A sneak peek has been released from MTV’s Scream Season 1 Episode 6, “Nothing to Hide,” showing Audrey’s father joining her at the police station. Detective Lorraine Brock says they just need to clarify something about what she and her friends found at the abandoned hospital. Did they pick up the head?

“We were kind of busy running in terror, so yeah, I’m sure,” Audrey says when the detective presses her.

The detective has a (seemingly) good reason for pushing: Audrey’s DNA is on the inside of the mask.

MTV’s Scream Season 1 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on MTV.
