Kroger Recalls Four Seasonings Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination

Kroger has recalled four seasonings due to a possible salmonella contamination.

According to USA Today, Kroger made the decision to recall Kroger Ground Cinnamon, Kroger Garlic Powder, Kroger Coarse Ground Black Pepper, and Kroger Bac’n Buds, all sold in the grocery chain, after it was discovered that they may have been contaminated with salmonella.

Officials said the FDA tested a small amount of the Kroger Garlic Powder from a store in North Augusta, South Carolina, and found it to be contaminated with salmonella. While no illnesses have currently been linked to these products, Kroger decided to recall them as a precaution because they were all produced with the same equipment in the same factory.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the symptoms of salmonella, which is sometimes classified as gastroenteritis, include the following symptoms.

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Headache
  • Blood in the stool

The recall covers several stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. It also includes other Kroger system stores: Jay C., Dillons, King Soopers, Fry’s, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, and Smiths.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Kroger’s recall comes just days after the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention announced that a recent salmonella outbreak had been linked to frozen tuna used in sushi. According to the CDC, 62 people had fallen ill after contracting the strain of Salmonella Paratyphi B variant L(+) tartrate(+), also known as Salmonella Java. This prompted Osamu Corporation, of Gardena, California, to issue a voluntary recall on their frozen yellowfin tuna made in one of their factories in Indonesia.
