Scott Walker Raises $13 Million For Recall Election Fight

Republican Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has posted some truly impressive fund raising totals for the previous 3 month period. Walker has raised more than $13 million dollars to defend his governorship. Walker’s campaign recently announced that it had almost $5 million dollars on hand for election and recall elections. The campaign has raised $25 million since January 1, 2011.

Ciara Matthews, a spokesman for Walker said,

“We continue to see strong grassroots support for Governor Walker, his bold reforms, and his plans for moving Wisconsin forward. Because of the overwhelming support for the Governor, we can continue to speak to voters about how Governor Walker plans to move Wisconsin forward while his Democrat opponents plan to take Wisconsin backwards to higher taxes, record job loss, and massive deficits.”

The Wisconsin recall race stands on top of every wish list among the Republican and Democratic parties.

Four Democrats declared their intent to challenge each other for the right to face walker. The Democratic primary is on May 8, and the general election is on June 5.

The two Democratic frontrunners, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and former Dane County executive Kathleen Falk raised $1,750,000 during the time they have officially declared their candidacies.

Falk criticized Walker in a statement saying,

“While Wisconsin loses more jobs than any other state, Gov. Walker has spent his time trying to save his own job. He raised $13 million from across the country because he’s delivered an extreme agenda that isn’t our Wisconsin values, and I’m proud to stand with the nearly one million people who have signed a recall petition to remove him from office.”
