Bea Arthur, Star of Maude and the Golden Girls, Dies at 86


A spokesperson for the family of Bea Arthur has confirmed that the Golden Girls star has died at the age of 86.

Although the spokesperson wouldn’t elaborate on the cause of Bea Arthur’s death, the star has been battling cancer for an extended period of time.

During her nearly 70 year career, Bea Arthur achieved great success as the character Maude Findlay on the 1970s sitcom Maude. She also played the role of Dorothy Zbornak on the 1980s sitcom The Golden Girls. Arthur won an Emmy for both of those roles.
