Katy Perry Takes To Twitter To Promote New ‘Mad Potion’ Fragrance

Katy Perry took to Twitter to not only slam Taylor Swift and support Rihanna, but also to promote her new fragrance.

Perry, 30, shared with her 72 million followers on Twitter about her new Mad Potion fragrance. Instead of her using her official @KatyPerry account, she used the name @KatyPerryPopUp. Perry’s fans can purchase her new fragrance for just $29.99 with the Twitter’s Buy Now option. Fans who follow the @KatyPerryPopUp account will also have exclusive access to other content. The new purchasing option became available on Wednesday, July 23.

Emily Bond, vice president of global marketing, explained the reason for marketing Katy’s fragrance on Twitter.

“In working with Katy, we wanted to try something completely different for the launch of her latest fragrance. Given her immense popularity on Twitter, we thought it would be the ideal channel to create a pop-up shop that will let her fans not only interact with her but also purchase the fragrance directly.”

Perry first announced the launch of her new fragrance back in June. She also used Twitter to make the big announcement. Perry’s BFF, Rihanna, may also use Twitter to promote her new RiRi fragrance.

That’s right, Rihanna is adding another fragrance to her own collection. As fans continue to wait for the release of her upcoming R8 album, the “BBHMM” singer continues her fashion and beauty endorsements with the release of her “RiRi” fragrance. The new perfume is expected to smell “soft ‘n’ sweet,” according to a report via Bustle. Rihanna also shared a photo of the ad that shows her in a different light, wearing large baby pink silk gloves that conceal her skin and tattoos.

Katy also taped the upcoming commercial for her Mad Potion fragrance in late June. The “Dark Horse” singer gave her fans an exclusive sneak peek at her new commercial via Access Hollywood. The concept behind Katy’s new commercial is to take all the madness surrounding her, put it into her magic hat, and pull out her Mad Potion. The commercial also shows her wearing a sexy tuxedo bodysuit, top hat, black sheer gloves, and a lavender wig, as seen in the ads.

As previously reported via the Inquisitr, Perry has taken to her official @KatyPerry Twitter account to slam Taylor Swift. She called the “Bad Blood” singer “ironic” for accusing Nicki Minaj of pitting women against woman. Perry wrote: “Finding ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as on unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…”

Katy also shared support for her friend Rihanna by stating that “BBHMM” should’ve been nominated for Video of the Year at the 2015 VMAs. She tweeted: “The real travesty is where the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1…@MTV.”

Katy Perry’s Mad Potion fragrance will also be available in select retail stores, according to Emily Bond.
