Gay Baker Scolds Gay Community For Acting Like Nazis And Bullies [Video]

A reportedly gay man is calling out some in the homosexual community for using what he deemed shameful Nazi-like and bullying tactics against his fellow wedding cake bakers who refuse to make same-sex wedding cakes.

Although no particular business is specifically mentioned in the two-minute video originally posted to his Facebook page, Jesse Bartholomew appears to be referring to the backlash against Christian-owned businesses that have declined to provided goods or services for same-sex weddings. These controversies have emerged well before the U.S. Supreme Court in June legalized gay marriage in all 50 states.

The Sweet Cakes by Melissa bakery, for example, was fined $135,000 by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries for turning away a lesbian couple’s wedding order, although the owners have reportedly raised about three times that much via crowd funding.

Bakeries, florists, pizza parlors and so on around the country and overseas have found themselves in legal jeopardy as well as being denounced on social media and in the marketplace for declining to participate in these events.

In the video embedded below, Bartholomew seems to be asking why would someone want to do business with someone who does not want to do business with you, especially given the availability of alternative vendors.

Along these lines, a lesbian couple who own a T-shirt business last November spoke up for a Christian-owned Kentucky company that declined to produce gay pride T-shirts on the basis of religious principles. “We feel this really isn’t a gay or straight issue. This is a human issue. No one really should be forced to do something against what they believe in. It’s as simple as that. And we feel likewise,” one of the owners declared.

The applicable law about these transactions as they may relate or not to religious freedom is not fully settled, but in his video, the pastry chef seems primarily to be wondering why any couple planning their nuptials would want to force a business to bake a cake when the item is such an integral and personal part of the wedding itself.

“Hi guys, my name is Jesse and I bake wedding cakes for a living, and I cannot tell you how disgusted I am with my fellow gay and lesbian community — that they would stoop so low as to force someone to bake a cake for them who simply doesn’t agree with them. And before you can go and blame me and say that they have to — no, they don’t have to. They don’t have to bake a cake for you…why would you want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a wedding cake and pay that money to someone who doesn’t want to make the cake for you?…That baker has to spend hours perfecting that cake for you, for your wedding day. And if that cake isn’t perfect, then it ruins your wedding..”

Jesse Bartholomew continued the thought that an unwilling or unenthusiastic participant may not provide the appropriate level of workmanship.

“So, you’re going to say that you want to force someone who doesn’t want to bake a cake for you? And that cake should be pretty damn perfect for our wedding. There’s no other bakers out there? It’s plain and simple. You are bullying someone. You are forcing someone. You are being a Nazi and forcing someone to bake a damn wedding cake for you when there are hundreds of other gay and lesbians that would gladly have your business. Shame on you.”

In April, a self-described gay businesswoman made a GoFundMe donation to Memories Pizza in Indiana as a way to apologize for what she called the mean-spirited, intolerant attacks on the Christian-owned, small-town eatery for indicating that it would decline to cater a same-sex wedding.
