Adorable Baby Deer On Front Doorstep Video

James Chang, a California resident and photographer, captured some heart-melting video of a newborn fawn relaxing peacefully on the doorstep of his parents’ home in Pacific Grove, California.

Initially, Chang was concerned the fawn was injured and proceeded to contact the authorities by calling 9-1-1. The operator on the other end of the line told James to quite simply give the baby deer some space, just in case the mother was nearby. Chang was quoted by KSBW News having said:

“I freaked out, because I thought it was hurt and needed help. So I called 911.”

After a short period of time had passed, James happened to notice the fawn’s mother across the street. According to Chang’s mother, who was quoted by the Today Show, the mother doe eventually finished eating grass and walked across the street to where her baby was sitting, gently nudged the fawn, and the newborn rose slowly to its feet and the two began their journey back into the California wilderness.

57-year-old Chang apparently wasn’t the only one bewildered by the adorable fawn, as an orange cat was seen staring from a distance.

Pacific Grove is located alongside the Del Monte Forest near Monterey Bay. With the forest in close proximity, wildlife sitings occur in the area on a regular basis. P.G. offers small-town hospitality, an award-winning natural history museum, the lowest crime rate of any city in Monterey County, beautiful sandy beaches, and the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the west coast.
