WWE Rumor: Brock Lesnar Not Winning WWE Title At ‘Battleground’, Will Have Rematch With Seth Rollins At ‘SummerSlam’

With Brock Lesnar taking out everyone that had Seth Rollins’ back over the last couple of weeks, it’s clear that WWE is really trying to make the fans think that Lesnar is walking out of Sunday’s Battleground show as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. However, that doesn’t seem to be the plan, as WWE is planning on having Lesnar and Rollins have a rematch at next month’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.

There was originally talk of having Lesnar win the Championship on Sunday, and then having him defend it against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam, while Seth Rollins faces Triple H. But, it looks like WWE doesn’t want to go to Triple H vs. Rollins right now, and they want to keep Reigns out of the title picture until next year, during WrestleMania season.

So, how does WWE get out of Sunday’s match without pinning Lesnar? Well, the answer is pretty simple, and obvious. Rollins will likely get disqualified, which possibly could set up a no-disqualification match between Lesnar and Rollins next month, where Lesnar will likely win the Championship.

When Lesnar won the title at last year’s SummerSlam, he defended it at the following month’s pay-per-view, and then missed about three months of television. As a matter of fact, there were 100+ days in between his title defense at Night of Champions and his next title defense at the Royal Rumble.

The amount of time that Lesnar had off while he was the WWE Champion was due to his contract, however, Lesnar did agree to make several more appearances when he re-signed with WWE back in March. But, nobody really knows just how many more appearances he’ll make.

It’s likely that if Lesnar wins the title at SummerSlam, he’ll have a rematch with Seth Rollins at the Night of Champions show, which will be the final match between the two.

As for possible opponents for Lesnar going forward, well, there are a few options. Someone like Randy Orton may not be a bad choice as a challenger for Lesnar’s title, or maybe Dean Ambrose. Sheamus is the current holder of the Money in the Bank contract, so he’s a possibility as well.

There have been rumors of WWE planning to do a WrestleMania 31 main-event rematch at WrestleMania 32, but this time Roman Reigns will defeat Brock Lesnar, and become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. But, if the fans end up rejecting Reigns again, WWE will be forced to go to a backup plan yet again, which may end up being someone like Kevin Owens.
