Margot Robbie ‘Elle’ Magazine: ‘Suicide Squad’ Star Discusses Pet Rat, Outrage Over Age

On the cover, Margot Robbie wears a black one-shoulder Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane gown with a gold Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. mesh bra. The blonde actress looked striking inside the magazine as well. Margot was photographed in a number of gorgeous looks like Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton, and other haute couture designers.

The Australian beauty reveals details of herself that fans may not know. Robbie admits that on her free time she raps to Lil Wayne’s lyrics and plays 21 Questions on dates to keep the conversation flowing. Robbie also breaks the ice by opening up about sex to strangers. She’s also very aware about the remarks from fans who think Robbie lies about her age. The now-25-year-old says that she doesn’t understand the “outrage” over her actual age.

“People seem outraged that I’m 24. People think I’m a decade older.”

Tina Fey, who stars opposite Robbie in Fun House, commented on the actress’ long-span career.

“Like a lot of actors who got their star on soap operas –Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin—Margot makes great, strong choices but then is still very quick and flexible.”

Margot also opened up about the time that her Suicide Squad co-star Jared Leto gave her a pet rat. He gave his co-stars strange gifts before shooting as a way to “get into character.” Margot said that she actually kept the pet and gave it a name. She explained the reason why she kept the gift.

“If Harley [her character in ‘Suicide Squad’] got something from Joker, she’d probably cherish it.”

Robbie also told the fashion magazine that she feeds her pet rat organic berries from Whole Foods market. Suicide Squad co-star Adam Beach revealed to E! Online that Leto sent all his castmates odd gifts so he could get into the mode of the character.

“He sent [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it – a live rat. It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter.”

Robbie may have revealed all to the magazine, but she wasn’t willing to dish about her boyfriend Tom Ackerley. The couple met on the set of Suite Francaise in 2014, when he worked as an assistant director, according to an E! Online report. Robbie was brief about speaking about her relationship with her boyfriend.

“He was a third AD, he’s no working as a second AD and that’s, yeah.”

Margot Robbie’s full cover story in the August issue of Elle magazine will be available digitally on July 14 and on newsstands across the nation on July 21. Fans can read the rest of Robbie’s interview at the Elle blog. Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters on July 21.
