Jennifer Lawrence No Longer Body Shamed Now That She’s A Celebrity

Jennifer Lawrence has been very outspoken about being body shamed. That was during the star’s rise in films like Silver Linings Playbook and The Hunger Games. That said, even though she’s at the top of her game, Lawrence hasn’t forgotten the importance of speaking out.

During a Comic-Con panel with the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Lawrence said that she can do whatever she wants with her body now because she’s a celebrity. Jennifer brought up a conversation when she was asked about whether or not she thinks there will be more opportunities for actresses of different ages and body types.

“I would hope that there are more opportunities for women, but sometimes it’s hard. I was just having a conversation with somebody about the struggles of weight in the industry, because they know that it’s something I talk nonstop about.”

She continued, “And I said, ‘Yeah, because once you get to a certain place [in your career], people will hire you and they want you to be in their movie, so they don’t care.’ It’s more about the struggle for the actors and actresses who haven’t made it to a certain place.”

Then Lawrence said what everyone was probably thinking — that she doesn’t have to worry about her image because she’s now an actress that makes big bank for studios no matter the type of film, whether it’s an independent film or a blockbuster. Basically, no one can dispute that Lawrence is a successful actress. Lawrence said that she would like to hear from an actress that’s still struggling in the business.

“I’m not really in a place where I can complain or speak to not getting enough roles, because I’m very lucky to have a lot of opportunities, but I would be interested to hear someone who is not in two franchises answer that question.”

As for her diet, the actress said that she still struggles with perception because she’s a woman.

“I did eat a panini and some cheese and crackers and a wrap. I tried to grab French fries, too, and this stern lady swatted my hand away and said, ‘No!’ I thought, ‘Wow, I haven’t been talked to like that since the first movie came out.'”

Back in 2013, Lawrence revealed to Haper’s Bazaar that there was a time she was told to change her diet or get fired.

“Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. It was just that.”
