Kelly Ripa Brings Out The Blue Hair, Fans Have Mixed Reactions

Normally blue hair is the domain of old ladies, but Kelly Ripa, eager for a new look, brought out a new, blue ‘do on Wednesday, and fans are loving it, the Los Angeles Times is reporting.

The 44-year-old took to social media on Wednesday to debut her new hair, then showed it off for TV audiences on Thursday’s Live! With Kelly and Michael.

But Kelly’s new blue hair won’t last for long.

“What’s sad is that I get two shampoos and then it’s back to normal.”

Kelly’s personal stylist, Ryan Trygstad, is the man behind the blue hair. And as Kelly explains via Fox News, the five-hour long process almost yielded a different result.

“We dyed it blue, and it turned a lime green.”

Ripa has been mixing it up with different hair colors of late, and her pal Ryan has been with her every step of the way. Back in June, she rocked a pink ‘do, and she told co-host Michael Strahan at the time that the sky was the limit as far as her hair color.

“I think I might go red next. When we first put it on it looked really red and I was like, ‘I like it!’ I tried a red wig once and I was drunk with power.”

Why she went with blue instead of red is anyone’s guess.

Reactions to Kelly’s blue hair have been mixed. Kelly says that when she first showed it off to husband Mark Consuelos, he was reminded of a popular brand of cereal.

“Oh my gosh, you look like the Lucky Charms guy.”

Co-host Michael Strahan was also taken aback.

“I walked into the makeup room and then, I was like [makes a sound like a dolphin].”

But her sons are into it.

“They think I look like a superhero.”

If Kelly Ripa’s Instagram posts are to be believed, however, fans are evenly split on the blue hair.

“Does it have an age limit on the box? People will forever hate because they’re jealous they can’t pull it off like Kelly. It looks beautiful on you.”

“Don’t care for the hair color at all!! Go back to beautiful blonde color please.”

“This is such a beautiful color! And blues and teals look super pretty when they fade.”

“Liked your pink hair so much better.”
