Plus-Size Bikini Photos: Bloggers Spread Body-Positive Message [Photos]

Plus-size women are spreading a body-positive message by sharing bikini photos of themselves. It all started with a blogger named Corissa Enneking of Fat Girl Flow, who was tired of the media’s definition of “plus-size,” so she wanted to create a new viral sensation.

The blogger asked other plus-size women to submit their own bikini photos. She then shared the photos in an inspiring post titled, “We Exist: Diversity is Plus Size Bodies.” Enneking told Bustle that she notices that the media only focuses on a certain kind of “plus-size” body. She also shared a slow-motion video of herself jumping into a pool to kick off the body-positive campaign.

“There is definitely a trend toward a very specific kind of plus-size body that is represented. But body/fat positivity isn’t just for people who vary slightly from the societal ideal. I think we need to make as much space as possible for as many different kinds of people as possible.”

She even asked Crystal Newton to participate in the new viral change so that other plus-size women could feel comfortable submitting bikini photos.

Her body-positive blog post has created an overwhelming response from her readers. Many have thanked Enneking for encouraging plus-size women to love their bodies and to feel proud to wear a bikini. She’s glad that her blog post has inspired so many women around the world.

“Having exposure to bodies that look like your own helps to make people feel included and part of something. The more exposure to different bodies we can get into mainstream media, the more people will begin realizing that fat people are not invisible.”

Corissa Enneking isn’t the only one who feels “invisible” at times. One F.M. presenter, Neomi N’gang’a, wanted to join the body-positive campaign because she loved the message behind it.

She shared a bikini-clad photo of herself on Instagram along with the following caption.

“Plus Size is beautiful. Plus Size is gorgeous. Plus Size is adorable. We are all lovely in our own ways. We are all smart in one way or another. As a plus Size lady, embrace your beauty. You are special in your own way..#PlusSizeMotivation.”

Blogger Kellie Kay shared this very bikini photo of herself for her own blog post, which also encouraged her readers to not only share their own bikini photos, but to love their bodies, no matter what their shape or size.
