Corey Simms and Leah Messer were at odds when fans last saw them on Teen Mom 2, but according to a sneak peek of Season 6, via PEOPLE Magazine on July 8, they are doing their best to get along -- at least for the sake of their 5-year-old twin girls, Ali and Aleeah.
"Even though I'm annoyed that I have to take a drug test, I'm relieved that our custody hearing is over. I'm dropping off the girls with [Corey Simms] today, and I'm hoping we can move past this for our girls' sake," Messer explains to the cameras.
During Teen Mom 2 Season 5, fans watched as Messer discovered Corey Simms, whom she was married to briefly before her affair with Robbie Kidd was exposed, had filed for full custody of their daughters, claiming Messer was an "unfit mother" and alleging she often took their kids to school late.
During Season 6, however, they appear to be on much better terms, agreeing to put their differences aside in order to co-parent more effectively.
According to Corey Simms, he was never trying to hurt Messer with his claims, but unfortunately, that's how it came off.
"Like I told you from day one, what I was doing was not a personal attack towards you. It might have seemed like that, but what I was seeing I just didn't agree with. I didn't like the tardies because next year they aren't going to like tardies in kindergarden."Following his divorce from Messer, Corey Simms married Miranda Patterson, and two couple is now expecting their first child together.
Although Corey Simms and Messer are doing their best to be civil with one another, Messer admits she's been hurt by her ex-husband's allegations against her parenting.
"I can't say that I don't have hard feelings, because I do. Being called an incompetent mother and this and that was really hurtful."As the Inquisitr previously reported, Corey Simms' ex-wife is currently dating Theodore "T.R." Dues. After her second marriage to Jeremy Calvert came to an end, Messer began dating the fitness trainer, and according to Radar Online, is stepping up for his two children as his ex-girlfriend, their mother, deals with health issues.
Corey Simm's third child is due sometime next year.
