Grateful Dead Fan Is Critically Injured At Band’s Last Show

While everyone is talking about the Grateful Dead’s moving last show, a Grateful Dead fan is now critically injured after falling from a railing inside the concert.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the 41-year-old man fell 20- to 25-feet. The man was quickly brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and although he’s in critical condition, police officials say that he has stabilized.

As the Inquisitr reported, the Grateful Dead reunited for their 50th anniversary. In order to commemorate the anniversary, the surviving band members decided to play a final farewell, which included three shows at the Soldier Field over the Fourth of July weekend. It’s said that there were 71,000 concert goers, which is a record for Soldier Field. Of those fans were famous faces, such as Andy Cohen, Katy Perry, and John Mayer.

Those who didn’t want to take part in the event and wait on long lines were invited to take in the concert from a few theaters that were playing the 50th anniversary set. According to the Chicago Tribune, AMC River East theater hosted the special event on screen to about 75 Deadheads.

The Grateful Dead wrote on their official Twitter after the set of concerts, “An incredibly magical journey. Thank you for joining us to celebrate #America‘s greatest rock band, #GratefulDead.”

As for whether or not fans enjoyed the final shows here’s a few responses.

One Twitter user wrote, “Feeling incredibly blessed to have shared this spiritual ride called The with this beautiful community.”

While Bravo’s Andy Cohen wrote, “The KILLED IT last night OMG. So full of joy from the music. When was the last time I danced like that!!?? Back to NYC now..”
