Pippa Middleton Stuns At Christening Of Princess Charlotte, But Gets Snubbed For Godmother Title

Pippa Middleton stole the show at niece Princess Charlotte’s christening on Sunday, wearing sky-high heels and a cream-colored dress that went well with her famous sister, but lost out on an important title for her young niece.

Pippa, who first arrived on the international scene thanks to her frame-hugging dress at sister Kate Middleton’s wedding to Prince William, again earned high marks for her choice of outfit.

Pippa showed up to the christening with a dress that seemed to mesh with her sister’s outfit.

“Pippa Middleton perfectly coordinated with sister Princess Kate on Sunday when she attended the christening of her niece, Princess Charlotte.”

“Middleton, 31, wore a cream Emilia Wickstead dress, which matched perfectly with Kate’s white Alexander McQueen frock. Both sisters wore ivory Jane Taylor hats to top off their christening day looks.”

There was plenty of fashion at Sunday’s event, including Princess Charlotte herself. As the Mail Online noted, she wore a hand-made replica of the Royal Christening Robe, made by the Queen’s dressmaker, Angela Kelly. Prince George wore the same one to his christening in 2013.

“And she was baptised today using the ornate Lily Font, which was specially commissioned by Queen Victoria to prevent her family being tarnished by association with the illegitimate children of one of her predecessors, and is usually on show as part of the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London,” the report noted.

While Pippa Middleton was noted for her fashion at Princess Charlotte’s christening, she also made headlines for her apparent snub. While Duchess Kate and Prince William picked six godparents for the new princess, Pippa Middleton didn’t make the cut.

It was a bit of a surprise, The Standard noted, “Top of the runners and riders this time is, of course, Kate’s sister Pippa. There was huge surprise when she wasn’t among the seven people named as George’s godparents but apparently Kate and William felt that she was already struggling to cope with the media spotlight focused on her since their wedding.”

Pippa had been considered a front-runner for becoming a godmother, but some people weren’t surprised that both she and Prince William’s brother Harry were passed over.

Claudia Joseph, a royal correspondent and one of Kate’s biographers, said the two have other very important roles to fill.

“Pippa is his only aunt and Harry is one of his two uncles so they already have very important roles in his life,” Joseph said, via USA Today.

While she may have been passed over at the christening, Pippa Middleton hasn’t lost out at all on her fashion sway.
