Floyd Mayweather Jr. May Lose Title Belt He Won Vs Manny Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather Jr. may be stripped of the belt he won back in May against Manny Pacquiao. The decision stems from a basic rule of the World Boxing Organization, as well as other possible factors.

According to the WBO, a boxer cannot hold the belt in more than one weight class. The undefeated champion’s win against Pacquiao in May could have been a historic victory, but it also violated the rule. Having repeatedly won the belt in the 154-pound class, Mayweather would have to forfeit one after beating Pacquiao for the 147-pound championship belt.

Considering the fact that Pacquiao had also been fighting with an injured shoulder, Mayweather’s victory may not have been worth the win. His opponent had been supposed to get treated for a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, and allegedly turned it down. As a result of the injury, Pacquiao is supposedly due for a rematch as soon as he is allowed back in the square ring.

In a recent Instagram post, it seems Floyd Mayweather has been mocking his Filipino opponent’s shoulder injury, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. This may be an indication that he’s preparing to win the belt again and hyping it up.

Pacquiao felt that Mayweather’s bragging was a proverbial low blow, and released his own reply, according to the Washington Post.

“A real champion is gracious both in his words and conduct. Someone who is a champion not just in his chosen field of endeavor but even in his own home and private life.

We should understand Floyd Mayweather Jr. because of his family background. He hailed from a family of ex-convicts and he himself is an ex-convict.

I still respect him as God’s creation and I won’t resort to such kind of a low blow just to get his attention. It only reminds me of what he did to his ex-wife. I hope he would find time to reflect on his life and repent for the sins he committed in the past. … I pray that may God touch his heart so he will discern the real meaning of love and life.”

ESPN’s Dan Rafael took to Twitter to explain why Floyd Mayweather could lose the title belt he won against Manny Pacquiao by Monday.

Mayweather may have had a change of heart, though, revealing he may be willing to part with his belts for a different and much more humble reason.

“I don’t know if it will be Monday or maybe a couple weeks. I’ll talk to my team and see what we need to do. Other fighters need a chance. Give other fighters a chance. I’m not greedy.

I’m a world champion in two different weight classes. It’s time to let other fighters fight for the belt.”

Do you think it’s time for Floyd Mayweather to give up the belt he won against Pacquiao?
