Miami Heat Rumors: Justise Winslow Impressive In Summer League Debut For Heat

Miami Heat rumors are already positive for Justise Winslow. The Heat put Winslow on the court for the NBA Summer League, and he debuted on Saturday (July 4). A report from Fox Sports stated that it went extremely well, giving Heat fans something else to get excited about.

Playing against the Summer League team from the Indiana Pacers, Winslow scored 15 points to lead the Heat to a 92-76 victory. Second-round draft pick Josh Richardson also did really well by scoring 14 points and going 9-for-9 from the free throw line. Having success for both rookie players this early in the Summer League bodes well for the Heat in the 2015-16 NBA season.

Dan Craig, who is serving as the Summer League head coach for the Miami Heat, spoke at length about Winslow. He praised his performance and was impressed with his versatility. That reference was to Winslow playing four different positions for the team in this game.

“He was locked in, and I thought he did a great job communicating with his teammates for a guy coming into his first game. When you put IQ together and talent you get chemistry.”

There had been a lot of Miami Heat rumors about who the team would target in the 2015 NBA Draft, but getting Justise Winslow with the No. 10 overall selection appears to be paying quick dividends. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, both Winslow and Richardson drew high marks from NBA analysts grading the draft. Both players could now see a lot of minutes with the Heat when the regular season begins.

Justise Winslow, Paul Richardson, and the rest of the Miami Heat Summer League team will be back on the court Sunday afternoon (July 5). The Heat will play the Brooklyn Nets in a 5 p.m. ET game that will be shown online live. Other players expected to play in this game include James Ennis, Tyler Johnson, and Zoran Dragic. It’s interesting that Dragic is playing in these games, but it’s a great way to develop chemistry with the younger players.

With a strong roster heading into the 2015-16 NBA season, Dragic locked into a long-term deal, and Dwyane Wade on board for at least one more season, this is a team that could be dangerous in the postseason. There are still Miami Heat rumors out there about the team trying to add more talent in the offseason, but Pat Riley may already have a winner on his hands.
