Kate Hudson’s Relationship With Her Father Goes From Bad To Worse

Kate Hudson’s relationship with her biological father, Bill Hudson, received a deadening blow this Father’s Day when he vowed to disown her and his son, Oliver Hudson, publicly.

An already embittered relationship between Bill Hudson and his two children was aggravated further when Oliver Hudson posted an image on his Instagram profile on Father’s Day. It was the caption beneath the photograph that drew Bill’s ire.

Tagging his sister, Oliver wrote:

“Happy Abandonment Day…@katehudson”

Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson then went on to upload separate pictures of themselves with actor Kurt Russell, whom the siblings consider their father.

Oliver and Kate Hudson were born to musician Bill Hudson and his Academy Award-winner wife Goldie Hawn, who separated in 1980 after four years of marriage. A couple of years later, Goldie Hawn entered a long-standing relationship with Kurt Russell, with whom she still lives in Palm Desert, California.

Since their early teens, Oliver and Kate Hudson have endured a tumultuous relationship with their father. But it was Oliver Hudson’s picture upload on Instagram that proved to be the final nail in the coffin. In an emotional interview with Daily Mail, veering between tears and searing words of anger, Bill Hudson spoke of his broken relationship with his two children.

“I say to them now, ‘I set you free.’ I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own. I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life. Oliver’s Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth.”

But more than his two children, Bill blames Oliver and Kate Hudson’s mother Gloria (Goldie) Hawn for the breakdown of their relationship.

“When we split up, she never had a bad word to say about me. But when Kurt came on the scene, the narrative changed and I became the big, bad wolf. I would say to her ‘Goldie, why are you trashing me and saying I’m an absent father when it’s simply not the case?’ and she’d laugh and go ‘Oh Bill, you know it makes for a better story.'”

And while it remains to be seen if Oliver and Kate Hudson will respond to their father’s angry tirade in the coming days, Us Weekly reported a source close to Kate Hudson and her brother about their stance on the entire saga.

“They don’t care and are not surprised by this. It’s been this way, and he’s been saying this stuff forever.”

It has been a sad turn of events for the Hudson family on an occasion that is supposed to be a celebration of a father’s relationship with his children. We can only hope that what follows is an attempt at a possible reconciliation between Bill, Oliver, and Kate Hudson.
