Demi Lovato: Top, Shorts, Stilettos Complete ‘Cool For The Summer’ Bondage Style, Talks Weight Loss, Bipolar [Video]

Demi Lovato is taking center stage in daring fashion with a top and shorts combination that gives new meaning to the term “summer attire.” Lovato went for a bondage bra top and uber-short shorts to unveil her “Cool For The Summer” single, reported People.

Getting fans focused on the 22-year-old singer involved minimal challenge because Demi dominated with that dominatrix look. Her accessories for her trendy outfit included tassel earrings and gladiator stilettos. Just for variety, Lovato slipped into a tattered denim vest during part of the show.

And those who flocked to see the singer went wild when Demi took a plunge in the Gansevoort Park Avenue hotel so that fans could fulfill their desire for selfies, all tagged with that #coolforthesummer theme.

But why limit yourself to just one outfit per day? That appeared to be Lovato’s mental debate, which she answered by swapping tops and shorts multiple times. Demi choose a shirt set at one point, then became a quick change artist for the temptations of a tie-dye dress. The only constant in her changing of the garb? That sleek bob and perky pink lips.

The excitement over Lovato’s revealing new style results from her recent weight loss.

“I tried on my shorts that I wasn’t able to fit into last summer, and some of them are too big on me — so that’s exciting,” exclaimed Demi.

But although Lovato is thrilled with her weight loss, she also wanted to send the message that a thigh gap isn’t the answer to beauty.

“I just wanted people to know that you don’t have to have a thigh gap to be beautiful, and to reinforce that it’s all about finding the confidence inside,” declared Demi.

It’s been a long journey to achieve that self-confidence. Lovato struggled with anorexia, bulimia, and cutting as well as bipolar disorder and addiction, reported Refinery29.

But now Demi is involved in helping others overcome the stigma that she faced with her diagnosis in a mental health awareness campaign.

Lovato admits that when she received a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, she was in rehab to be treated for bulimia, anorexia, and cutting.

“I had heard people joking about bipolar, as if it’s that one minute you’re sad, one minute you’re happy. I was worried about the diagnosis at first; I didn’t want anyone to think badly of me.”

But when Demi learned that bipolar disorder was the reason that she battled fluctuating feelings of elation and depression, she realized that the diagnosis could help her understand her struggles since age 10.

“In the end, I was so relieved that I got the diagnosis I did,” she concluded.

As the new celebrity spokesperson for the “Be Vocal: Speak Up for Mental Health” campaign, Lovato recognizes that she’s taking a risk in opening up, as the Inquisitr reported. But the singer emphasizes that by daring to expose her innermost struggles, she hopes that she can help more people.

“I’ve been very open about my story just because that the more honest and open I am, the more people that I’m gonna be able to reach. Mental illnesses, in general, are … not talked about as much as they should,” she said.
