Jill Duggar Dillard is going on a mission with her husband, Derrick Dillard. The two will be taking their newborn son, Israel David, and moving abroad. According to People Magazine, the couple has announced their plans, but they have not said where they will be heading. The 19 Kids and Counting stars say that this is something that they have both wanted to do for a long time, and that they have decided to act on an opportunity that was presented to them “several months ago.”
“God has put a desire in our hearts to serve Him internationally for longer than the typical short-term mission trip, but we didn’t know yet how God would fulfill that desire in us. We were prepared for the possibility of it being years before our family would be able to make a move of that magnitude. It’s something we’ve prayed about together in an effort to seek God’s plan for our lives in His service. Earlier this year God brought about an opportunity much earlier than either of us was expecting. Several months ago a new opportunity arose for us to serve God on the mission field. Before us we had a choice to make that would undoubtedly change the trajectory of our lives forever.”
Jill Duggar and Derrick Dillard’s mission has come at an interesting time. As the Mail Online points out, it has been just about three weeks since Jill came forward as one of the girls that was molested by her older brother, Josh, when she was younger. With TLC announcing that 19 Kids and Counting is on a hiatus (they have not announced whether or not the show will return to the air), this is likely a good time for Jill to escape with her husband, and their son, and do some good in the world.
Derrick told Walmart (his employer) that he would be leaving for this mission, and he stopped working there in May. He seems really dedicated to helping others and putting himself out there in any way that he can.
“We have a deep love and care for all of the world and a real passion for those in the nations, as many have even seen in the early stages of our relationship, and our hope is that all peoples of the world would come to repentance and put their hope in the Lord, Jesus Christ. We don’t expect this new adventure to always be easy, but God never promised that following Him wouldn’t have its challenges,” Derrick said.
Where do you think Jill Duggar and Derrick Dillard’s mission will be? As previously reported by the Inquisitr, some seem to think the three will move to Nepal. It is unknown how long they will be away for.
