LeBron James Delays Re-signing With The Cleveland Cavaliers, Wants To See What The Cavaliers Do To The Team First
LeBron James delays re-signing is the basketball news coming out of Cleveland today. LeBron came back home to Cleveland last season with the goal being to bring the city an NBA championship. James took the Cavaliers all the way to game six of the NBA Finals before losing to the Golden State Warriors. LeBron did everything he could, but Cavalier injuries were too much to overcome.
Before LeBron James re-signs with Cleveland, he wants to make sure that the Cavaliers resolve contract issues with multiple players. Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and Brendan Haywood have contractual issues that need to be worked out by the Cleveland front office.
Making sure that most of these players return to the Cavaliers next year is vital in order to keep the pieces in place for another championship run. LeBron James knows this, which is why it is being reported that he will decline his player option on Monday. All that matters to James is championships and he wants to make sure that the teams he plays for will be a team that can go the distance.
Fans on Twitter are commenting on the latest wait-and-see approach being taken by LeBron.

If my name is LeBron James, I wouldn’t care about my image. Everyone already hates me. Play were you want. Now if Dwade went to cavs… NO.

On June 23, James posted on Facebook to his fans.
“It hurt to lose. I’ve been in a funk lately, but this… this is what motivates me to do what I do. How can I ever be down when I know my kids and my fans have my back?
Being back home and back with my fans is everything that I dreamed of. Thank you for an incredible season. I’m not satisfied… I’m not happy with the way things turned out… I PROMISE to get better.”
LeBron James seems to be happy with the Cavaliers. It is very unlikely that he would leave them again. The Cavaliers will do everything in their power to make sure that LeBron stays happy. News that LeBron James delays re-signing should not be a surprise. He knows he holds all the cards there.
