Married 67 Years, Die Two Hours Apart: Couple In Love Until Last Breaths, Die Side-By-Side

A couple married for 67 years die two hours apart in a story that is touching lives all over the world this week. According to NewsOXY, Hugh and Joan Nee passed away laying side-by-side in a nursing home in New Zealand, after being together for over six decades. Hugh died from cancer, Joan had a stroke, but the two stayed together until the very end.

The two met in the 1940s, raised a family together, and hardly ever left each other’s side.

“The married Wellington couple… died in their sleep two hours of one another in the same nursing home at Eldon Lodge in Paraparaumu on Tuesday. Daughter Joy Reid said their death was a ‘miracle’ after the pair had told family members they couldn’t bear to be without each other.”

The couple married for 67 years did die two hours apart, which amazed their kids, but did not surprise them. Survived by two sons, a daughter, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, Hugh and Joan lived a life filled with love — but that love was something that they always cherished together according to NewsMax.

“We think it was a miracle, really, it was just what they wanted. They said they wanted to die together, and I didn’t expect it to really happen. It was just perfect for them. Not only did they share a common purpose, they had a strong personal love for each other, a close relationship,” Reid told the media.

The couple married 67 years didn’t choose to die two hours apart, but things like this do happen more often than you might think. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a couple married for 72 years died six hours apart in December, 2014. Robert and Louise Bain died just after Christmas in the same hospital.

“On Christmas Day Louise, 90, opened her eyes as Robert, 92, sat beside her in their hospital bed. Early the next morning she took her last breath. Six hours later Robert died, too.”

Before that, Italvino and his wife, Diva Possa, died side-by-side in the same hospital just 40 minutes apart. They had been married 65 years.

Each time these stories pop up on the internet, they tend to go viral. Why? Well perhaps because they prove that there really is such a thing as true love. Perhaps there is something to be said about a full heart, and what happens when two people truly care for one another. It is quite sweet, really.
