Carrie Underwood has been doing it sine 2013, and she’ll continue to do it in 2015.
Yes, Underwood will return again to sing the NFL Sunday Night Football theme song for the third year in a row. Previous to Underwood, Faith Hill sang the Sunday Night Football theme song.
According to reports, Carrie Underwood will record a new version of the theme song, called “Waiting For Sunday Night,” for the 2015 season. This year’s version will feature several NFL players, including Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers, Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys, and Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, for example.

Carrie Underwood returns to sing the song after an eventful year off the country music stage. In February, Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, welcomed a son. After Isaiah’s birth, Underwood was noticeably absent from awards shows and the public eye while she rested and spent time with her family. Underwood was first seen in public during the opening round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, when her husband’s hockey team made an appearance.
It didn’t take Carrie Underwood long to return to the studio, though, and earlier this month, she did her first public show in collaboration with the 2015 CMT Awards. At those awards, Underwood largely competed against herself and took home trophies in three categories. In total, Underwood has earned 13 CMT Awards, making her one of the most decorated female artists in history.
With credentials like that, it’s no wonder the NFL wanted her to record the theme song for a third year in a row.
