Super 8 Alligator: 6-Foot Gator Visits Louisiana Motel, Bites Guest

Port Allen, La — Authorities in Louisiana say a 6-foot alligator showed up at the front door of a Super 8 Motel outside Baton Rouge and bit a guest.

West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Mike Cazes explained to The Advocate his office got the call about the rouge reptile around 4pm Wednesday in Port Allen, a small community just west of Louisiana’s capital.

Matt Marszal, the motel’s front desk clerk, says the gator bit one of the motel guests who tried to catch it before Animal Control workers showed up.

“I couldn’t believe something like that was out there,” said Marszal, who just moved to the area from Florida. “I never saw one up close before. I was getting kind of worried,” he said.

Marszal said the bite victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his wound. As for the pesky alligator, reports say Animal Control workers subdued it quickly after arriving.

According to WBRZ News, an alligator expert with Louisiana’s Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said this is the time of year gators are on the move, and can wind up anywhere. If you see one, do not approach it: each parish has people trained to handle gators. Instead, contact your local sheriff’s office.
