Rumors have been circulating for a little while now that AMC had done a casting call for two new characters for Season 6. The casting call (posted below) seems to originate from the Spoil The Dead website.
“[KIRK] Male, Mid 20s to 30. Just a couple years ago, he was a young, blue collar everyman from a small town, who worked a job, was married, and followed the golden rule. He’s avoided being cynical and bottom line minded — but the world seems to keep telling him to look out for number one and eliminate anyone in his way… RECURRING GUEST STAR W/ SERIES OPTION FOR SUBSEQUENT SEASONS (MUST BE AVAILABLE 6/19-6/30 & 10/16-11/19)
[HILDA] Female, Mid 20s to 30, Attractive, Kirk’s wife, she’s a real partner to him. She’s a strong woman, not passive or wilting… RECURRING GUEST STAR”
It is highly likely these names are not the final names for the characters we will see in Season 6 of The Walking Dead, rather placeholder names to avoid giving away potential storyline spoilers since AMC bases The Walking Dead on the comic books of the same name. Already on the Spoiling Dead Fans Facebook page, people are speculating this couple may be a cover for comic book characters Dwight and Sherry.
But now it seems E! News and TVLine are ready to talk about this latest casting call. When a fan asked Ausiello recently about news on The Walking Dead Season 6, Ausiello described Kirk as a “Mr. Nice Guy who, over and over, gets the same message from cruel fate: Do unto others before they can do unto you.”
Ausiello was also keen to speculate on the reasons why Kirk is being cast for Season 6 with the potential to carry on into other seasons, yet the Hilda casting call doesn’t ask for the same requirements. Ausiello joins many other Walking Dead fans who are convinced Hilda will be one of the first regular characters to die in Season 6. It will be interesting to see, if this is the case, how that will affect Kirk? After all, he appears to be a man who already has a grudge against Fate.
AMC’s The Walking Dead will return to our screens in October 2015.
