Scott Baio’s Wife Is Diagnosed With Brain Tumor

Scott Baio‘s wife has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. The Happy Days alum revealed the news in a shocking post on his personal Facebook page.

In the emotional post, Scott Baio’s words came across as heartfelt, especially while speaking about his wife Renee’s resilience in the face of something that’s so heartbreaking. “Just a few days ago we learned my wife, Renee, has a meningioma brain tumor. Although 90% of these type of tumors are benign they can cause serious problems depending on the size of the tumor and the location. We are waiting to learn the exact location to see if its operable.”

Although a brain tumor is a serious thing to come to terms with, Baio spoke about his wife with optimism. “Renee has been down some rough roads in her life, yet each time with her strong faith in God, she comes through a better and stronger person. During this time we ask for your prayers and support.”

The 54-year-old actor continued with his post, describing Renee as “his rock.”

“My wife is my rock. She refuses to even shed one tear, nor will she question God’s will. Renee, Bailey, and I will get through this and along the way maybe help educate others to get checked out (MRI with contrast) as 6,500 people each year, mostly women, get these tumors.”

Renee and Scott welcomed their daughter, Bailey DeLuca, seven years ago. That said, they had hard times at first. They revealed that their daughter had tested positive for a rare metabolic disorder, which they found out she is free of after two months of testing.

Back in 2008, the couple spoke about the potentially deadly disorder. At the time, Scott said, “It was the worst time in my life. I don’t know how to explain that to you. I don’t, other than, every breath that you take, every thought that you have, every moment that you’re conscious, it’s all you’re thinking about. No matter what the conversation is about, what movie you’re watching, what you’re eating … This disease is the constant thought in your brain. It never leaves you. Ever. You can’t breathe.”

When they found out that Bailey was healthy, Scott told People, “We jumped through the ceiling, even though we were just so physically and mentally and emotionally exhausted by that point. We called everybody we knew.”

Scott and Renee got married in Los Angeles in 2007.
