Rachel Dolezal ‘Admits’ She’s White? Does Dolezal Change Her Race When It’s Convenient For Her?

Rachel Dolezal has previously admitted that she’s white, despite her recent claims that she has identified herself as a being black since she was very young. According to TMZ, documents from a 2005 custody battle — when Dolezal was 27-years-old — indicate that Rachel considered herself to be Caucasian.

It seems as though she may have brought race into the game because she wanted to obtain full custody of her son.

“I noticed a bruise on Franklin’s left eye after he returned from visitation with [Kevin]. Franklin is a child of blended ethnic decent [sic], and bruises are less noticeable on his dark skin than on that of a Caucasian child,” read the docs in part. As the site points out, Dolezal’s ex-husband is black, so the phrase “blended ethnic decent” means that she considered herself white.

If Rachel Dolezal considered herself black, as she says (“I am a black”), her child with a black man would not be “blended.” And naturally that’s up for debate. Some people think that TMZ is reading too far into the statement, while others believe that Dolezal might be using race to her benefit.

According to CNN, Dolezal doesn’t believe that her parents — both of whom are white — are her real parents. She says that she has identified herself as a black woman for many, many years, but she’s never had a DNA test to prove her race one way or the other. Since there weren’t any medical witnesses to her birth, and her birth certificate was actually filed seven weeks after she was born, there is a chance that Dolezal was adopted by her parents.

“I haven’t had a DNA test. There’s been no biological proof that Larry and Ruthanne are my biological parents.”

Rachel Dolezal says that race isn’t a simple concept. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the former NAACP leader says that she has long felt misunderstood. She even related her struggle to that of Caitlyn Jenner.

“Just yesterday I finally had a chance to read Caitlyn Jenner’s piece in the magazine and I cried. I resonated with some of the themes of isolation, of being misunderstood.”

All of this publicity is making some people annoyed, but Dolezal is taking full advantage. Her most recent admission? She’s bisexual.

“Even in dating relationships — I’m bisexual, I’ve dated men and women — I will intentionally ask, ‘so do you just date light-skinned women? What’s your spectrum?'”
