It has been 14 years since Anne Hathaway’s first big role on the big screen as Princess Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries captured our hearts. Two years after that, we saw her reprise her role in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. After that, we never heard of the lovable princess that we adored. That is, until now.
According to CNN, Princess Diaries 3 is happening. The report says that Disney is working on the third installment of Princess Diaries , but that the storyline has not yet been revealed. In addition, Debra Chase, a producer on the first two Princess Diaries movies, is on board to produce the rumored third film.
Disney, however, has not yet confirmed the news, and no cast members have been announced as of this writing. Despite this, fans of The Princess Diaries movies are eager to see Anne Hathaway play the role of Her Royal Highness Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi, the Princess of Genovia, once again. It would be icing on the cake if Julie Andrews comes back to play Queen Clarisse Renaldi, Princess Mia’s grandmother.

The Princess Diaries movies are based on novels of the same name written by Meg Cabot. The second Princess Diaries movie left us with Nicholas Devereaux, played by Chris Pine, professing his undying love for Princess Mia while down on his knee. MTV reports that Meg Cabot just released the latest book in the Princess Diaries series entitled Princess Diaries XI: Royal Wedding. There is no news whether the third installment of the movie will borrow its plot from the latest book, but if it does, we are sure to have a happily ever after.
