UFO Hunter Spots Crashed 250-Ft Alien Flying Saucer Half-Buried In Antarctica Ice On Google Earth

The online UFO community is abuzz with news of the apparent discovery of the wreckage of a UFO — an alien flying saucer — supposedly stuck in Antarctica ice. The alleged crashed alien spaceship — half-buried in ice — was spotted by Russian UFO and alien hunters on Google Earth satellite images of the Antarctica.

The satellite image — co-ordinates 80°34’08.4?S 30°05’19.3?W on Google Map — was taken on 15 February 2012. It first went viral on Russian social media site VK as evidence of alien presence on Earth.

Russian UFO hunter Valetin Degterev from Nizhny Tagil in central Russia, and colleagues, are touting the image as photographic proof that aliens have landed on Earth in the past.

Degterev’s claims elicited various reactions on Russian social media. Some tried to debunk the claim while others agreed with his conclusions.

“This is b*****ks. It is clearly just a massive indent in the snow.”

“You might be onto something here. The Antarctic is pretty desolate and would be a good place to land without being noticed.”

“Wow. Well spotted. I wonder what happened to those inside.”

Crevasse Or UFO In Antarctic Ice?

But skeptics have pooh-poohed the claim, saying that the dark area in the satellite image is not the wreckage of an alien UFO but a natural feature of the landscape. According to the Daily Mail, Andrew Fleming, an expert with the British Antarctica Survey, said the dark area is a shadow caused by a crevasse or a fissure in the vast stretches of ice.

According to Fleming, the dark patch is a shadow and the area with bluish tinge bare ice.

“A crevasse is a lot of ice formed by differential movement of the ice. They can be tens of meters deep. It’s one large slot, nothing unusual, but they are spectacular. It’s certainly not a UFO, though.”

Skeptics also point out that Degterev strangely ignores other shadows caused by natural features of the landscape, such as cliffs, while paying selective attention to the dark spot.

But despite the pronouncement from experts and skeptics, Degterev, who styles himself, “researcher of the unknown,” insists that the black spot could not be a crevasse or any other natural feature of the Antarctica landscape. He also excluded man-made objects, such as a polar station or an installation, a crashed airplane or ship. He also argued that the object could not be a natural feature of the landscape because it appears metallic.

“I think there is very large disc-shaped flying machine amongst the frozen ice. It is definitely not a polar station, nor a plane (as there aren’t any airplanes or helicopters this big in the world). There also aren’t any ships lost in Antarctica. It seems this is an artificial object from the distant cosmos…”

He insisted that examination of close-up images of the elliptical formation in Antarctica ice could only represent an alien UFO that crashed at the spot.

According to Degterev, “amongst the endless ice desert, it is the most genuine UFO in its most classic shape.”

He went on to estimate the dimensions of the UFO at about 65ft (20 meters) wide and 230ft (70 meters) long.

However, UFO expert and author of UFO Investigations Manual, Nigel Watson, told the Daily Mail that it is difficult to determine exactly what the image shows, but admitted that the Antarctica has a long history of claimed sightings of alien UFOs.

“It’s hard to tell if this ‘classic’ saucer sticking out of the ice, or whether it is a break in the ice. Antarctica has a long tradition of being the resting place of crashed saucers or a base for their operations.”
