Bubba Watson Rallies To Win 2012 Masters Championship

It was a nerve racking finish for one golf’s most storied tournaments but Bubba Watson was able to pull his game together, save par from the pine straw and defeat Louis Oosthuizen in the second hole of Masters tournament playoff.

Watson found himself stranded behind trees 155 yards from the hole on Sunday afternoon from where the left-hander managed to hit a huge hook that landed the ball safely back on the 10th green.

After getting himself out of trouble Watson two-putted for par and defeated Oosthuizen who couldn’t manage to get up and down from the front of the green.

The victory marks the first major championship win for Bubba Watson.

The win is especially nice for Watson who seemed out of contention on the final day of play, at one point trailing by four shots before he birdied on No. 13 and No. 16 to rally back for a share of the final day lead.

Sunday play appeared to be starting out right for Oosthuizen who managed to grab the tournament lead after scoring a rare double-eagle on No. 2, Ultimately the shot of the day however came from Bubba Watson who hit his hook out of the 10th hole woods and then gathered his composure enough to take the lead and win the playoff.

The two men were the first to meet in a Master’s playoff since 2009.

Watson finished the tournament at 10 under par, 2 shots better than two of the PGA’s biggest names, Lee Westwood (-8) and Phil Mickelson (-8).

Congrats to Bubba Watson on his first green jacket win.
