Truck Full Of Sharks Crashes, One Shark Dies

It’s not often that highway crashes become the source of a shark’s death, but that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday. A truck loaded with sharks, reports News 13 Orlando, crashed in a heavy downpour of rains — and it was carrying five sharks. The semi-truck traveled on I-95 throughout Central Florida in Volusia County when it crashed.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the truck full of sharks crashed near Oak Hill. The big rig suffered a tire separating and causing the crash — damaging not only the huge aquarium in its load, but at least one of the shark occupants. It was close to mile marker 238 where the semi-truck barreled off the road, causing harm to the 5-feet-long sharks inside.

It was shortly after 2 p.m. ET when the truck with the sharks crashed, reports WKMG Orlando.?

Not only did the fated truck’s tire separate, but it split open and caused the semi to careen onto the shoulder near the woods. Sources are calling it a tire blowout. The sharks were inside the large truck because they were being taken from the Florida region to a New York aquarium in Coney Island.

The shark was ejected ?from its damaged aquarium. The truck was able to remain upright and not overturn on its northbound path up Interstate 95 towards New York.

As reported by the Inquisitr, more than a dozen sharks were spotted recently off the coast of Huntington Beach in California. That sighting caused concern for residents and visitors. Meanwhile, news about the shark being killed in transport is causing quite a reaction from wildlife lovers online.

According to WFTV, neither the truck’s driver nor his passenger was injured. Also, the publication reports that although one shark died, the other sharks weren’t harmed in the crash. On their Facebook page, commenters are making their opinions known, like reader Terry Nickerson.

“The shark that died was the lucky one. The other three will live in hell in a NY aquarium. Shame……”
