‘Queen Of Versailles’: Victoria Siegel Received ‘Cruel And Hateful’ Texts From Boyfriend’s Phone Day Of Death

The 18-year-old daughter of billionaire Westgate Resorts founder David A. Siegel and Jackie Siegel was found dead in the family’s luxury mansion after an apparent drug overdose. Victoria Siegel was found unresponsive in the home by a housekeeper at around 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the medical team was unable to revive the teen, and she was pronounced dead. The Siegel family’s attorney, Michael Marder, released a public statement noting that on the morning of Victoria’s death, she received “cruel and hateful” text messages from her boyfriend’s phone.

The Daily Mail reports that on the morning of Victoria Siegel’s death, she received a series of “cruel and hateful” text messages from her boyfriend’s phone. However, the texts were not believed to have been sent by the boyfriend, but rather an ex-girlfriend of the boy who had access to the phone at that time. The family’s statement notes that they do not know if the text messages directly affected the teen’s choices that day, but claim that the girl was already emotionally vulnerable and that the messages were “clearly” intended to hurt Victoria.

“The ex-girlfriend of Victoria’s boyfriend used his phone to send cruel and hateful text messages using the boyfriend’s phone. These messages were sent early on the morning of Victoria’s death. These messages were clearly intended to hurt Victoria and while we cannot be sure may have affected her emotional state at a time when she was emotionally vulnerable.”

Victoria may have been exceptionally vulnerable at this time due to the fact that she was just released from voluntary drug rehab just two weeks prior to the apparent overdose. The Siegel family says that Victoria had entered the treatment facility on her own doing and was making strides towards beating her addiction when the tragic death took place. One of the family’s nannies that was particularly close to Victoria noted that the teen had become increasingly distant from family in the past weeks as she underwent treatments. In fact, the teen was supposed to be with family in Park City, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nevada, for a wedding when the overdose occurred. Instead of going with the family, the teen decided to stay home alone in the sprawling family mansion. Therefore, when Victoria overdosed that day, she was alone in the home with just one of the family’s nannies in the house.

The family rose to fame thanks to the documentary Queen of Versailles, in which matriarch Jackie Siegel was followed closely as the family’s larger-than-life mansion was completed. The family was also recently featured on the reality television show, Celebrity Wife Swap. Following the tragic death of their daughter, David and Jackie have decided to start a foundation in their daughter’s honor to help other teens struggling with drug addiction.

“David and Jacqueline will be starting the Victoria Siegel Foundation, the purpose of which will be dedicated to helping troubled teens with addiction issues, similar to the Betty Ford Clinic. The goal is to provide a facility that will be accessible to guide and counsel teens to fight addiction and allow them to live healthy and productive lives. Victoria’s passing cannot be in vain and if nothing else the Siegels want to do whatever they can to spare other families from the pain and suffering they are going through now.”

Do you think the ex-girlfriend who sent the “cruel and hateful” text messages to Victoria Siegel the morning of her death should be held legally liable for inflicting distress on the recovering teen?
