When It Comes To Model Gigi Hadid, ‘Less Is More’
Gigi Hadid quickly became one of People Style Watch’s “Looks of the Week.” The magazine’s “Last Night’s Look” gallery is typically filled with the best red carpet style moments. Now it looks like the magazine is focusing on beauty, thanks to the likes of Gigi Hadid.
The “It” girl and model of the moment made a splash at the CFDA Awards on Monday night. Hadid wore a gold sequin embellished jumpsuit designed by Michael Kors. She also rocked a glittery and bronzed makeup look. Hadid’s smoking hot look was styled by makeup artist Beau Nelson and hairstylist Jennifer Yepez.
Both stylists revealed how they got Hadid’s beachy, yet dressy, look so perfectly pulled together. Nelson revealed that he had to get the model’s skin to glow, much like her jumpsuit.
“I always want to enhance a woman’s best features when I work with them, and Gigi has such beautiful skin. We added a bit of bronzer for warmth and used cream blush sticks to give it a natural glow.”
Nelson also combined cream shadow in two different tones to “diffuse the edges” and to create a seamless look.
“Using a cream shadow with a lot of pigment is a great way of doing a smoky metallic eye, because there is absolutely no product drop-out at all, like with powder shadow.”
He also made Gigi’s lips pop with a “modern take on the nude lip” and some lip liner.
“A peachy nude lip is easy to wear and brings life to the face.”
He then pulled her look together with a few swipes of mascara. If only it was that easy to get ready for a big night out.
Now let’s talk hair. The goal for Hadid’s hair was to make her blonde locks flow, also like her jumpsuit. She wanted the model’s hair to blend in, not stand out.
“To complement Gigi’s beautiful Michael Kors jumpsuit, she and I decided on beautiful beach waves. This lived-in style is the perfect accent to this look, and I love that it can last you three days and still look great. Gigi and I both felt that having [her hair] down and full of body and texture gave it a fun young vibe rather than too done.”
The 20-year-old recently became the new face for Maybelline. She attended Maybelline New York’s 100th anniversary last month, where she shared some of her makeup tips. When it comes to Gigi Hadid’s personal style, she believes that “less is more.” The model revealed some of her summer beauty secrets in an exclusive interview with E! News.
“Normally, I’m a foundation and mascara person. I never go too much. I would say less is more.”
She does realize that having a bold eye, like she did at the CFDA Awards, is very important. The model shared some tips on how other women can wear the bold eye look.
“When you go with a bold eye, go with a more held-back lip or if you go with a big lip, hold back on the eyes. I think balancing it out and finding a good place that’s not too much on your face is great.”
