Cube Dogs: The Latest Pet Grooming Trend In Japan

Japan is renowned for coming up with original ideas in all spheres of life, but now it seems they’ve gone “cubist” as the latest pet grooming craze is what is known as “cube dogs.” It’s hip to be square, it seems, but is this really new?

Many dogs appear to be embarrassed after a visit to the pet grooming salon with their various bows and bits of fluff, but these dogs look totally out of it. Their geometric coiffures make the cube dogs look really strange.

As you can see, it’s not just their faces that have been squared off but their entire bodies.

As reported in the Mirror Online, in the past we’ve seen creations like the “square watermelon” coming from Asia and maybe this sparked off the new idea of the cube dogs. It turns out the new cube dogs trend has even proven to be popular at Japan’s answer to Crufts, a recent Tokyo dog show.

However, it turns out the cube dogs trend might not be a really new thing, as it has been done before, along with spherical dogs! According to Tokyo Desu, news websites are exaggerating the whole issue of the unusual Japanese dog grooming.

In recent news on the Inquisitr we’ve seen other people go to extremes with the dogs they love, including the Pirates of the Caribbean star, Johnny Depp, who could face up to 10 years in jail for smuggling his beloved hounds into Australia.

Then there’s the cutest “magical mop” of a dog who appeared in a recent video. In the video on that Inquisitr article we see one of those signs, warning of a wet floor, together with what looks like a mop with a wooden handle, but things are definitely not all they seem. Just imagine taking one of those wonderful mop dogs and turning it into the latest and greatest of cube dogs?

Dog lovers, tell us, would you put your beloved pet through the kind of grooming treatment that produces either spherical or cube dogs?
