Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Compared To River Phoenix, ‘John’ Transgender Rumors Persist

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is being compared to late actor River Phoenix, and she’s never even acted before. However, the comparison has nothing to do with Shiloh’s acting chops — she’s simply chopped off her hair, and it looks very River-esque. Because the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt keeps rocking a boyish look, it looks like those transgender rumors about “John Jolie-Pitt” probably won’t die down anytime soon.

GQ recently pointed out that 9-year-old Shiloh Jolie-Pitt seems to be taking hairstyle inspiration from a ’90s heartthrob who died much too young. The Jolie-Pitts were recently spotted leaving Los Angeles International Airport, and Shiloh definitely looked too cool for school with her all-black ensemble and parted, choppy bowl-cut that would make Nick Carter and Devon Sawa envious. Instead of choosing one of these still-living celebrities to compare Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to, GQ just had to go and get all morbid and weird by saying that she’s a dead ringer for a dead guy.

Shiloh’s tomboyish style isn’t just inspiring River Phoenix comparisons — it’s also thoroughly confusing the internet. There are still a lot of people who are convinced that everyone should be referring to Shiloh as John Jolie-Pitt.

Perhaps the huge Caitlyn Jenner story made people start thinking about Shiloh. As the Inquisitr previously reported, there’s a reason so many people are convinced that Shiloh is transgender — a tabloid used an old Angelina Jolie quote to spread a rumor that Shiloh self-identifies as a boy and that she wants to be called John. Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend, Amber Rose, helped to spread the rumor by referring to the little girl as a “trans kid” in an Instagram post.

However, Angelina Jolie has never said that Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is transgender. During a 2008 interview with Oprah, the actress revealed that Shiloh was simply pretending to be a Peter Pan character when she asked to be called John.

“She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it’s a Peter Pan thing,” Angelina explained.

Since that interview, neither Angelina Jolie nor Brad Pitt has referred to Shiloh as “John,” and they always use female pronouns when talking about their daughter. Angelina has stated that Shiloh “wants to be a boy,” but she’s never said that Shiloh actually self-identifies as the opposite sex.

Even if Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is transgender, don’t expect her to become the next River Phoenix — she has already hinted that she doesn’t want to follow in her parents’ footsteps by getting into acting. Angelina Jolie offered Shiloh a role in the Maleficent movie, and she definitely wasn’t interested.

“I asked Shiloh about being Aurora, and she laughed in my face,” Jolie told Elle.
