MTV Star Leah Messer’s Family Speaks Out About Rehab Stay As Jeremy Calvert Hires Divorce Lawyer
MTV star Leah Messer is currently in rehab, but according to reports, she’s not addressing issues of addiction. Instead, claimed several sources, she’s getting treatment for depression and stress. According to a June 4 report by the Hollywood Gossip, the MTV star’s family recently spoke out on her behalf.
“Members of Leah’s family have insisted that the troubled Teen Mom star is not on drugs, and is instead suffering from severe emotional distress. Her mother has stated that Leah is in rehab for stress and depression, but others in her inner circle know otherwise.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, the MTV star entered a Utah rehab on May 21, where she is addressing her alleged issues, which likely stem from her daughter’s muscular dystrophy diagnosis, as well as her ongoing marital troubles with Jeremy Calvert. According to a report by In Touch Weekly, the MTV star enrolled in a 30-day program.
“She’s ready for her 30-day stint of therapy. She’s being treated for depression and stress. She’s always put other people’s needs ahead of her own, and her mental health suffered because of it.”
Following the MTV star’s failed marriage to Simms, which ended when she admitted to sleeping with her ex-boyfriend just hours before they wed, Messer married Calvert, and one year later, the couple welcomed their first child. Unfortunately, however, their good times were short-lived, and Calvert’s busy career took its toll on their relationship. Throughout Teen Mom 2 Season 5, the MTV star and her husband exposed their issues to fans, but when Messer suggested counseling, Calvert declined.
Now, months later, after allegations of infidelity on both sides, the couple is headed for divorce — and it could be messy. Radar Online claimed on June 4 that Calvert had hired “high conflict” attorney Rusty Webb, the same lawyer used by Simms.
Not only does this mean the MTV star will soon be entangled in divorce, it may also mean she’s headed for a custody battle, which is sure to come as bad news for Messer, who is still in the midst of a custody battle with Simms over their twin girls, Ali and Aleeah. Talk about a stressful situation — no wonder Messer is in need of treatment. She definitely has a lot on her plate.
