Katy Perry Isn’t Working On A New Album Or Taylor Swift Diss Track, Despite Reports
Fans will have to wait longer for Katy Perry’s new album. Katy’s manager previously announced that her new album was set to release for 2016. But her longtime BFF, Bonnie McKee, revealed in a new interview with DeeJour that the singer hasn’t even began working on her new album yet.
Bonnie McKee is not only Katy Perry’s best friend, but she’s also a songwriter for some of the biggest names in music. In a new interview, McKee revealed that Perry hasn’t even stepped in the recording studio. It sounds like the “Dark Horse” singer has been too busy with her Prismatic World Tour to even start working on a new album. Mckee also went off course to discuss her new album, Bombastic.
“You know, Katy’s still been on tour and everything. She hasn’t gone in to start the new album yet. Hopefully! I’d love to be working with her again. I can’t wait to see what she does next actually, but nothing on the horizon just yet. I feel like I’ve been focusing on my new project. I have been doing some writing on the side a little bit, with artists that I’m really excited about. Kind of more up and coming people. But, I’m focusing more on my own project. It’s a full time job being an artist!”

Rumors have been swirling about Katy Perry’s new album since her manager spilled the beans. During a music and entertainment conference in Singapore, Steven Jensen said: “She plans to release her next album by 2016.”
Since Katy Perry’s manager announced the news about her upcoming album, fans have been wondering what direction she will take. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Katy said that she plans to go in a different direction.
“It’s important for me to maybe start reinventing myself. Because I can’t keep topping myself because I’ll just combust at some point.”
Perry has previously expressed interest that she wants to work on an acoustic album. Some of her fans are even hoping that she will go back to her roots like in her debut album, One of the Boys.
“There have always been two records I want to make; the acoustic record and the dance record. [‘One of the Boys’] was very pop-rock, more alternative influences, very No Doubt. But the last two [‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Prism’] were so pop heavy. ‘Prism’ has a more electronic influence. The next record does have to be different. I think that I’m gonna really have to reroute.
I can’t wait to create more and evolve more and be a contributor. I would never ever want to be just a celebrity. It’s so gross. But if you’re contributing, you’re adding something to the world; you’re changing someone’s perspective. I’m disgusted by the fame stuff. I try to keep a distance from it.”
It’s also rumored that Katy Perry was turning to on-again, off-again boyfriend John Mayer to help her out in the writing process. Maybe Katy ditched Bonnie for John, which is why she doesn’t know about Katy’s new album. In several new reports, Katy wants to write a diss track about archenemy Taylor Swift. The “anthemic-type song” may even sound similar to Taylor’s “Bad Blood” single.
