Animal Cruelty: Pit Bull Without A Nose Rescued From Potential Pennsylvania Dog Fighting Ring

Pit bulls, a dog breed often associated with aggression and human attacks, have often faced many more cruelties than most people realize. A dog breed that was popular in Michael Vick’s, among others, dog fighting rings that many probably think are no longer in existence.

However, the Inquisitr reported in April about Duke, the pit bull, who was kidnapped for, and rescued from, a dog fighting ring in North Carolina. Now, according to Fox 43, another pit bull has been rescued from a potential dog fighting ring.

Janine Guido rescued Mona, the pit bull mix, in Philadelphia earlier this week, what she found brought her to tears, and required a phone call to her boyfriend.

“I bawled, I called my boyfriend crying. I’ve heard of horror stories, but I’ve never seen one, especially so close to home, only two hours from here. Her nose was pretty much torn off, and then the whole side of her face back to behind her teeth, the skin’s gone and she has some punctures up there all over her chest.”

Guido, who works for Speranza Animal Rescue, brought Mona, the pit bull, to Dillsburg Animal Hospital. When she approached the pit bull mix without a nose, Guido did not know what to expect, so Mona’s response surprised her.

“I thought she might be a little timid, but she came down the hallway, tail wagging and just jumped right into my lap.”

The road ahead for Mona, the pit bull, is likely to be rough. In fact, Dr. Ivan Pryor needed to rush to work, simply to make it that the pit bull mix could breathe.

“Our primary goal right now is just to get her to open up her nostrils and give her the capability to breathe.”

My Informs reports that Mona’s recovery will take over four weeks, at a cost of $5,000. Dr. Pryor remains optimistic about Mona’s chances, and said despite the fact the work needed will make her look “different than most dogs,” she will make an awesome pit bull for someone.

According to Guido, Mona, the pit bull, is grateful for the help, despite what the owners or whomever did to her prior to arriving at the animal hospital.

“She’s definitely grateful for having her life saved and she lets you know it through every kiss and tail wag.”

Mona faces an uncertain future, but will likely recover. If there is any useful takeaways from such a horrible event, besides the other side of pit bulls, her attitude through adversity could teach humans a thing or two.
