Size 12 School Girl Devastated After Health Store Worker Told Her She Was ‘Too Big For Her Age,’ And She Must ‘Eat And Eat And Eat’ All Day

A 16-year-old school girl left a health shop almost in tears after an employee told her that she was too big for her age and said she “must eat and eat and eat” all day, reports Metro.

Molly Woodley went to Holland & Barrett health shop with her boyfriend last Wednesday to inquire about dieting pills. Her family was planning an event in July, and she wanted to slim down.

In lieu of answering her questions, the store assistant asked her age and stated that she was too big for her age, and said that she must “eat and eat and eat” all day.

“The woman in the shop asked me how old I was. I said ’16’ and then she said that they didn’t sell diet pills to under 18,” Woodley said.

“She then said that I was ‘big for my age’ and that I must ‘just eat and eat and eat.”

“My jaw dropped and I turned around and left. I have never felt so embarrassed before – I just wanted to go home and cry.”

“It was humiliating.”

Woodley left the store practically in tears, and couldn’t believe that she had just been humiliated in front of her boyfriend as well as in front of strangers. Unbeknownst to the store assistant, Woodley is currently on medication for anti-anaemia, which contributed to the weight she had gained over the past few months, according to Mirror.

Once Woodley’s mother, Heather Woodley, learned of the cruel remarks the store assistant made about her daughter’s weight, she immediately contacted Holland & Barrett and made a complaint.

“This is exactly how eating disorders start. It’s ridiculous – that shop worker had no right to talk to my daughter that way,” she said.

“She’s only a size 12, but if Molly was 50 stone, the shop worker still had no right to speak to her that way.”

“Molly’s strong and not about to go and throw herself under a train or anything, but I know it’s shattered her confidence.”

“She is so upset.”

Since Heather’s complaint, Holland & Barrett apologized to Molly for the comments their store assistant made. They also stated that they would be investigating the incident.

“You read these stories about people dying after taking diet pills bought online. Molly did the sensible thing – she asked,” she said.

“It’s horrific, it really is.

“The area manager called and took full responsibility but I don’t think he should have to take all the blame.”

“I think the woman who said it should give Molly a written apology and be sacked.”
