Britt Nilsson: Five Fun Facts About ‘The Bachelorette’

On the debut of The Bachelorette Monday night, the men will choose either Kaitlyn Bristowe or Britt Nilsson to hand out roses. But as CarterMatt pointed out earlier this month, the woman who does not get the crown should remain part of the show, even if it is unclear how. Kaitlyn and Britt have done a series of joint press appearances leading up to the premiere episode, putting them on equal footing in the eyes of the viewers.

For fans of Britt, or those who want to know a little bit more about this castoff from Chris Soules’ season of The Bachelor, here are some interesting fun facts.

She prefers to show it rather than say it. Britt is no fan of Twitter. The former model and actress is all about the photos. She recently told fans to visit her Instagram page to keep up to date with goings-on in her life.

She has the ghost of a famous author in her apartment. In the days leading up to the Bachelorette premiere, Britt posted a photo of an odd marking on her hardwood floor. She included a humorous caption.

“Meet Edgar Allan Poe. Once a famous author [and] poet, he’s apparently decided to take up permanent residence as a stain on my apartment floor.”

It turns out Britt is quite the reader. Her ABC Bachelor biography listed her favorite authors as David Foster Wallace and Dave Eggers, whom she called “[g]reat wordsmiths, highly eccentric.”

She volunteers at her church. Britt is open about her faith on Instagram. When she left The Bachelor, she posted, “God consistently works things out for good when we trust Him…even through pain, mistakes, sadness.” Her new biography for The Bachelorette revealed that after she stopped modeling she became a greeter at a local church.

She likes reality shows, but the Bachelor doesn’t top her list. Britt recently gave an interview to Channel Guide magazine where she said she loves to watch Hoarders, Dateline, and Intervention. Of course, Britt may have been polite by choosing not to single out the television franchise that made her famous.

She showers. Britt may be forever shadowed by Michelle Money’s comment the night of the Bachelor season premiere, when the former Bachelor contestant said she heard Nilsson does not shower. Money later apologized, saying she thought a joke about Nilsson’s hygiene habits was going to be teased during the episode, which it was not.

Britt set the record straight on Instagram.

“I take showers. I hope that’s kind of obvious. However, if there’s some way people think I can look that clean after 5 weeks of not bathing, I guess that’s awesome too.”

A bonus tidbit about Britt Nilsson: she told Channel Guide she is a casual dresser, and her time on The Bachelor was her first experience with a stylist.

The showdown between Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe gets started at 9 p.m. Monday on ABC.
