‘DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow’: Who Caity Lotz Is Playing And When It Will Premiere

Superheroes are the hot thing on TV right now, and with the success of Arrow and The Flash on the CW, it’s no wonder that the network is launching a spin-off from both shows, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, next season. However, the wait to see what’s to come from those characters moving on to that show and the characters being introduced in the new series is going to be a bit longer than you might have suspected.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, some characters from the spin-off, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, including Ciara Renee’s Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, will be in the Flash season finale on Tuesday, entitled “Fast Enough.”

As the official synopsis of the series reveals, the cast includes Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein/Firestorm), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom), Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter), Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), and Franz Drameh (Jay Jackson).

“When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?”

One of the big mysteries about the spin-off has been Caity Lotz’s involvement, given that her Arrow character, Sara, died in the Season 3 premiere. She was killed by Thea while under the influence of drugs from Malcolm. Considering the synopsis of the series, it’s possible that in the case of the spin-off, Rip finds her before she is killed.

There is another possibility, however. While the Lazarus Pit has been introduced since – and used to save Thea – the season finale has already aired and no one has been seen using it for Sara. However, it sounds like that may have been the case off-screen because the key art for Legends of Tomorrow (above) shows Lotz in white, and it has now been confirmed that she is playing the White Canary.

Given what Lotz has teased for Entertainment Weekly about her character, it sounds like the use of the Lazarus Pit to bring her back and the repercussions and side effects of such a thing, as Malcolm told Oliver when he used them for Thea, could explain the changes that will be seen in Sara.

“There’s going to be some differences. There’s going to be some repercussions for whatever happened and it’s definitely going to make a difference in how she is. I’m really looking forward to it. The stuff they were telling me about it and where they’re going to go with the character is exciting.”

Another character’s fate that seems to be up in the air for the spin-off considering events on Arrow is Routh’s Ray Palmer, who, while tinkering with his suit in the Season 3 finale, was blown up in Palmer Technologies. However, based on an interview Marc Guggenheim did with CraveOnline, perhaps that was for the purposes of bringing in shrinking, considering he was performing a miniaturization test when the explosion occurred.

“As far as the whole shrinking is concerned, this show is very much a show about origins. It’s a show about characters evolving. …Just because Ray hasn’t shrunk yet doesn’t mean he never will.”

Rewatch that final scene with Ray below.

Unfortunately, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow won’t be part of the CW’s fall schedule, but instead will air as part of the network’s midseason lineup.
