Bruce Jenner ‘In Seventh Heaven’ About Transgender Special: GLAAD And Ryan Seacrest Talk Significance [Video]

Bruce Jenner made history when he revealed in his Diane Sawyer interview that he is transitioning from male to female. And to those at the recent GLAAD Media Awards, the significance of that honesty is a game changer, reported People.

“That was a culture-changing moment,” declared GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.

Ellis emphasizes that by revealing his story, Bruce changed the way that millions viewed the transgender community.

“It was a tectonic shift for the trans community. For the first time, about 20 million people in America met somebody who’s transgender. You can’t really do that in any other way or with somebody who’s even better suited for it because Bruce has always been a champion in the past and is now a new kind of champion.”

In addition to that interview with Diane, Jenner will appear in a two-part special for Keeping Up With The Kardashians as well as a transgender documentary series. But how does the Olympic athlete really feel about all these opportunities to reveal his truth to the world?

“[Jenner] is in seventh heaven, ” said Jennifer Finney Boylan, who is an author, a trans advocate and co-chair of GLAAD’s board of directors. She is consulting on the series.

“Imagine what it’s like to have a secret your whole life, then to unveil the secret in this very public way,” added Jennifer. “It’s scary, but it’s also someone who is feeling jubilant.”

Also speaking out on Bruce’s special is Ryan Seacrest, reported the Daily Mail. Active in producing the various Kardashian shows, Ryan also oversaw the About Bruce special that will be broadcast on May 17 and 18.

“I watched it back, and I thought it was very emotional and very compelling,” revealed Seacrest. “Bruce talks to his family about everything, which is extremely emotional and very, very raw.”

The special shows how each member of the family reacts to the news. Promos have shown Kendall Jenner, for example, tearful about her fear that Bruce will vanish, as revealed below.

“I don’t like it when people say Bruce is going to be gone,” she wept.

“I’m not going anywhere,” comforted Bruce.

As the Inquisitr reported, Bruce revealed that Kim Kardashian was the most supportive member of the Kardashian and Jenner family. Kim confided in him that it was her husband Kanye West who helped her see life through Bruce’s eyes and that West encouraged her to support Bruce’s desire to become his authentic self.

“He says to Kim, ‘Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful daughter in the world, and I have that. But I’m nothing if I can’t be me. If I can’t be true to myself, it doesn’t mean anything.'”
