Allentown Mom Kisses Son Before Throwing Him To His Death Off A Bridge

An Allentown mom reportedly gave her 1-year-old son a kiss before throwing him off a bridge to his death, according to the Associated Press.

Authorities say the Allentown mom, who was identified as 19-year-old Johnesha Monae Perry, tossed her son into a river on May 3 before jumping in after him.

The Times News detailed the circumstances surrounding the Allentown mom’s decision and actions.

“Perry had her son, Zymeir Perry, in a stroller and walked from her residence to the Hamilton Street Bridge over the Lehigh River. When she got to the middle of the bridge, Perry took the child out of the stroller and held him on the railing of the bridge. She kissed him and then pushed him over the edge. The child fell about 52 feet into the river.”

While her son died from injuries sustained in the 50-foot fall, the Allentown mom survived and is now being charged with homicide.

According to WFMZ, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said the Allentown mom is charged with killing Zymeir Perry, of Allentown, who died Saturday.

“I would like to commend the officers and medical personnel who valiantly tried to save the life of this child. If there is anything else that can be said to be a positive from this sad event, it is that organs of Zymeir have been harvested and perhaps will help to save some other child’s life.”

The Allentown mom told Police she intended to kill her son when she threw him off the Hamilton Street Bridge, although no motive was disclosed.

Police recovered the toddler 700 yards downstream from where he was thrown into the LeHigh River, but he had no pulse. The child “appeared to be engorged with water and had a swollen face,” according to court documents.

Emergency personnel revived him on the scene, but he was declared brain dead six days later, was taken off life support, and his organs were donated, according to the district attorney.

An autopsy performed Monday revealed that the toddler died from complications of blunt force trauma and drowning.

The Allentown mom reportedly jumped in after pushing him over the railing was found along the riverbank. Court documents say she was taken to a hospital and then to jail, where she is being held without bail.
