After a court hearing yesterday at Atlanta’s Dekalb Probate Court, a deal has been reached in the legal guardianship of Bobbi Kristina Brown. Both Bobby Brown and Pat Houston will now act as co-guardians.
11 Alive reports that Bobbi Kristina’s father, Brown, and her aunt, Houston, are both delegated as co-guardians concerning the young reality star’s medical care and needs. After the decision was made, legal representatives released a statement on behalf of both Brown and Houston.
“We are delighted to inform the public that the court has appointed Bobby Brown and Pat Houston as co-guardians of Bobbi Kristina Brown (‘Krissi’). Both Mr. Brown and Ms. Houston are jointly responsible for decisions related to Krissi’s care and medical needs.”
The representatives’ statement also indicates that attorney Bedelia Hargrove was appointed as Bobbi Kristina’s conservator , meaning that the 22-year-old’s finances will be handled by a lawyer.
“Ms. Hargrove is responsible for Krissi’s assets, including her likeness, rights and legal claims.”
The battle for legal guardianship over Bobbi Kristina started last month when her father filed for full control over her care. Speculations soon followed that Brown was planning to take control of his daughter’s inheritance, yet attorneys who spoke on the issue stated that guardianship only gives Brown the right to make decisions on Bobbi Kristina’s medical care.
Bobbi Kristina’s condition hasn’t improved much since she was found unresponsive on January 31. The last update on her medical condition occurred last month with Cissy Houston, Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother, stating that her granddaughter has “global and irreversible brain damage.” Regardless, many members of the family continue to hope for a miracle.
Nick Gordon, 26, is reportedly anxious and desperate to see Bobbi Kristina, but with Brown now co-guardian of his daughter’s medical care, Gordon may continue to face obstacles.
Brown’s attorney indicated earlier this year that Gordon failed to comply with Brown’s request to give a full written statement concerning the events that happened on January 31 that led to Bobbi Kristina’s condition. So far, Gordon reportedly still hasn’t agreed to Brown’s request.
Meanwhile, family members of Bobbi Kristina Brown ask that fans and supporters continue their prayers. Although the reality for Bobbi Kristina certainly looks grim, many family members believe in the power of prayer and hope.
