‘Big Bang Theory’ Shocking End Leaves Us To Pick Our Jaws Up Off The Floor
Season 8 of the Big Bang Theory certainly ended with a “big bang” in one of the most colossal shockers in the show’s history. The introduction of Amy Farrah Fowler several seasons ago is the only finale that even comes close to the bomb that was dropped last night.
If you haven’t seen the Big Bang Theory season finale and are waiting with bated breath to watch the events unfold on the DVR when you get home from work, then be warned: This article contains definite spoilers.
The ongoing on-again off-again relationship between Leonard and Penny took a surprising turn. Though they’ve been engaged for a while now, Penny’s reluctance to move forward with wedding preparations left us wondering if she really planned on bringing the engagement to fruition, or if she accepted Leonard’s proposal simply to put an end to the subject.
A big argument about setting a wedding date resulted in Penny asking Leonard to run away to Las Vegas with her and get married right away. Of course, Leonard didn’t turn that down, and the show ended with the Big Bang Theory super couple on their way to a chapel. All did not end perfect for them, however, as Leonard dropped a bombshell of his own, coming clean to kissing another woman. Penny forgave him, but the entire feel of the journey shifted, leaving us to wonder if their big trip will be completed or if they will return home single.
Big Bang Theory odd couple Sheldon and Amy have always kept us guessing, but this time they beat all the surprises that have come before. The Big Bang Theory writers have outdone themselves this time, introducing not only one, but two huge twists in the continuing Sheldon and Amy saga.
As Big Bang Theory fans, we know that Amy Farrah Fowler has put up with all of Sheldon’s many eccentricities. She has come close to calling the relationship quits before, but Sheldon somehow manages to redeem himself just in time. In this episode, he failed to garner her faith, and Amy actually broke up with him.
That fact was shocking enough, but the heartbroken look on Sheldon’s face was utterly inconceivable. Dejectedly, he fiddled with his Gollum figurine before opening a box containing a shining diamond engagement ring.
“Well Gollum, you’re an expert on rings. What do I do with this one?”
