‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For Weekend Of May 8, Thunderlord Edition
Destiny players seeking to ride the lightning should head over to Xûr, Agent of the Nine, post haste. Thunderlord is on sale for the very first time in the PlayStation and Xbox shooter. The Exotic armor for sale isn’t bad either.
This weekend, Xûr can be found across from the Speaker in the Tower North. Simply head to the left when you first spawn in the Tower, and you’ll find him standing in front of a large, round door across from the speaker’s entrance. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map just to be sure though.
Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, May 10. As soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET / 2 a.m. PT, he will be gone
This is the first time that Xûr has sold Thunderlord, and it is only 17 Strange Coins. If you don’t already have one, it’s a must-buy thanks to its strength in PVE. Also, it looks and sounds cool. Meanwhile, there’s really not a bad piece of armor on sale this week. All three Destiny classes have solid stat rolls and are worth the Strange Coins.
On the upgrade side, Hunters luck out, as both the Mask of the Third Man and Lucky Raspberry get excellent stat rolls. The Insurmountable Skullfor has a good 117 Discipline stat roll as well. While Crest of Alpha Lupi and Apotheosis Veil get decent upgrade stat rolls, you’re probably best not bothering with upgrading Skull or Dire Ahamkara unless your current roll is awful.
Here is what is available for sale and upgrade from Xûr this weekend. Thanks again to DestinyDB for the Exotic information below.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.
Thunderlord is a beast of a machine gun in PVE scenarios thanks to its high stability, large clip, and perks. It’s a go-to weapon in Nightfall and Weekly Heroic Strikes that use Arc burn, and it comes with a hidden perk that occasionally causes enemies to explode with Arc damage on kills. It’s also a solid weapon to use in Crucible, but not quite as useful as in PVP.
Ruin Wings is the Exotic gauntlets added with The Dark Below DLC that is a must get for either Titan sub-class. The main draw is the “Seeds of Ruin” perk that makes Heavy Ammo drop up to twice as frequently and contain more ammo when it does drop. There are dry spells, but increased use of Heavy Weapons makes these gauntlets a must buy no matter the stat. It also comes with a “Special Weapon Loader” perk that increases the reload speed of special weapons and the “Impact Induction” perk that reduces grenade cooldown when causing melee damage.
The 102 Strength stat roll is exactly one better than last week, so there’s that. Again though, the “Seeds of Ruin” perk makes this armor so potent is not stat dependent, which makes this a good buy at even average stat rolls if you don’t already have them.
The ATS/8 Arachnid’s main perk is the “Arachnid Sensorium,” which gives Gunslinger Hunters a moderate zoom to the Golden Gun super. This is one of four Exotic helmets for Hunters and the least desirable compared to the Achlyophage Symbiote. The “Ashes to Asset” replenishes Super energy with grenade kills and “Light the Blade” compliments by reducing the melee cooldown with grenade damage.
The 61 Discipline and 68 Strength stat roll is not that far off from the 73/73 max, so it’s a very good roll for this Hunter helmet this week.
The Obsidian Mind helmet is a must-have for Warlocks. The combination of the “Inverse Shadow” (more super energy from killing minions) and “Insatiable” (Nova Bomb kills reduce Nova Bomb killdown) perks will make your Warlock a Nova Bomb-chucking machine. Pair this helmet up with the Soul Rip class talent and the Bad Juju’s “String of Curses” perk for even more damage.
The 70 Intellect and 58 Strength split stat roll is solid. Not quite as good as the last time Xûr had the Obsidian Mind for sale, but that is primarily on the Strength side. It’s still very much worth the pickup if you don’t already own this helmet.
