Dad Finds Frightening Note From Missing Son — But There’s A Twist To This Parent’s Nightmare

A dad got a note from his missing son that immediately threw the man into the middle of a nightmare of the sort that worries every parent of a teenager. But hang with this story until the end, because there’s a very interesting twist.

The story has been making the rounds on the internet lately, but it may just be an urban legend because where it actually originated is not entirely clear. As far as we can tell, the first place the story appeared was a site called NYMeta, but even that’s hard to say for sure.

In any case, we’re bringing you the story because it’s too good to pass up, and it could very well be true. See what you think.

According to the various accounts, the story began when this unsuspecting dad walked past his son’s bedroom and based on what he saw there — or didn’t see — immediately became suspicious.

Not only was the teen boy not in the room, but the kid’s bed was made all nice and neat. The teen’s clothes were put away. In general, the teen’s bedroom appeared as immaculate as a room at the Ritz-Carlton.

The dad knew right away that something was amiss, and then he saw it: a single envelope placed on the bed. On the envelope, in his son’s handwriting, the word “Dad,” supposedly the very envelope seen in the photo above.

So the increasingly distraught father opened the envelope, and this is what he read.

“Dear Dad, It is with great regret and sorrow that I am writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with mom and you. I’ve been finding real passion with Stacy, and she is so nice, but I knew you would not approve because of her piercings, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes, and the fact she’s much older than I am.

But it’s not only the passion Dad; she’s pregnant.

Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods, and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children.

Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn’t really hurt anyone. We’ll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with other people in the commune — for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.

In the meantime, we’ll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so that Stacy can get better. She sure deserves it.

Don’t worry, Dad. I’m 15, and I know how to take care of myself. Someday, I’m sure we’ll be back to visit, so you can get to know your many grandchildren.”

Right. Needless to say, the dad’s heart dropped deep into his stomach. Panic set in — what could he do now?

Then he saw that the note wasn’t finished. There was another paragraph.

“P.S.

Dad, none of the above is true. I’m over at Jason’s house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the school report that’s on the kitchen table. Call when it’s safe for me to come home!”

Quite an elaborate ruse to cover for a bad report card. The kid had pulled stunts like this before, we imagine, judging by the slick nature of this one.
